Hudson’s Bay and the Empire of Trade tells the story of the establishment of the Fort by the Hudson’s Bay Company and how it grew to become a vital trading post. The Fort’s robust trading activity led to the creation of the colony of British Columbia. Numerous exhibits were developed for this project including a world map, an interactive matching game that paired trade products with locations on the SS Beaver Route, a large size floor board game where one could traverse the local trade route using different game pieces; fish, maple syrup, blankets, etc. as well as a trade window, audio stories of First People’s accounts, a central sculptural element on the SS Beaver and numerous historic archaeological artifacts, including original cannonballs and arrowheads.
